Western Water Native Grasses
Reinstating native grassland
As a part of the Western Irrigation Network, Greater Western Water completed an irrigation pipeline which carries recycled water from Bacchus Marsh and Melton to farmers in Parwan and Balliang. We revegetated a 3km stretch of the pipeline using a hydroseeder. A mix of 10 endemic grasses were included in the seed mix in order to create habitat for the endangered Grassland Earless Dragon. Read more about the project here.
