NCCMA Catchment Planting
Securing Bendigo's water supply
We assisted the North Central Catchment Management Authority (NCCMA) in their ongoing efforts to preserve and improve the quality of water entering the Coliban River and it's reservoirs which supply water to much of Central Victoria. The project targets tributaries around Trentham, Tylden and Lauriston that have been used as grazed pasture for sheep and cattle. Working with landholders, the sensitive areas are fenced to exclude livestock. We then conduct weed management, rip suitable areas with a tractor and revegetate the sites with a mix of canopy, mid-story and ground-story indigenous plant species, securing the water supply and providing vital habitat corridors.
