Monsants Estate
Landscaping and streetscaping
A niche development in the goldfields bush suburb of Maiden Gully in Bendigo required a full streetscaping and landscaping treatment which was sensitive to the local environment. We planted, mulched, guarded, tied and watered in 30 advanced street trees. We then planted over 10,000 tubestock and hiko plants around 2 large bioretention basins. A mix of endemic species such as lomandra, poa, carex, juncus, myriophyllum, callistemon, nymphoides, amphibromus, dianella, hakea, acaica and goodenia were integrated into the planting plan. The surrounding area was also mulched and hydroseeded using a mix of local wallaby grasses. The new housing also backs on to Myers Creek, which we restored by controlling the exotic grasses and woody weeds, removing rubbish and allowing the existing wallaby grasses, spear grasses, acacias and red gums to flourish.
