Hydroseeding

hydroseeding native grass seed for grassland revegetation in Bacchus Marsh, Victoria

Hydroseeding involves the mixing of seed, mulch, water and fertiliser in a large tank and applying the mixture to topsoil through a cannon or hose. A tackifier (kind of like a glue) can also be added to the mixture, allowing the seed to stay in place long enough for the grass to germinate without being blown away or washed out in a rain event. The tackifier also helps the mulch to stick in sloped areas such as drain lines or roadsides. Hydroseeding is ideal for both native and exotic grasses and can be applied to broad areas, verges, roadsides, drain lines and parks and gardens.

Hydroseeding allows us to:

  • spread and secure native grass seed reliably and efficiently

  • establish exotic grasses on verges and in drainage lines

  • rehabilitate neglected spaces and soils

  • apply mulch to sloped and hard to reach areas

  • effectively cultivate grassed areas at scale
